3rd Feb lung biopsy was performed. Procedure seemed OK no issues at the time. Next day ended up in A&E as had and still have sharp shooting pains, back of neck, upper back, front of the chest, lower back and side all on the right side where the solid mass/tumour is. Had an xray which showed no sign of lung puncture, given morphine and then sent home after being told I would stay the night. Anyone experienced this sort of pain after a lung biopsy?
My experience was different. I did have a CT guided biopsy on my lung before I was diagnosed, but the pain was more localized on the tumour itself. If I am honest, I was already in pain before the biopsy so it only made it worse. In my case I was hospitalised and I was prescribed with MST (slow release morphine) the day after my biopsy. Was your tumour causing you pain before the biopsy?
Yes I was definitely in pain before but not on this scale, and actually I mentioned the pain to the doctor before the biopsy and was told that my solid mass/tumour is actually pressing. But I'm now in such severe pain they have prescribed me morphine. They now seem to reckon its the pain from the solid mass/tumour and that they might of also touched a nerve. Did your pain calm down after the morphine? And before treatment?
My pain got under control with the MST, just oral morph wasn't enough. Also, I ended up having to have a key hole surgery to remove fluid of my lung and after that the doctors had to increase my morphine. Are you being followed by someone from the pain management team? Having your pain under control is very important.
Since I started Chemotherapy that my pain has improved. I was on 30mg MST every 12hrs and I am now on 20mf MST every 12hrs. Before I used to top up with oral morph very frequently depending on effort. Going for a 30m walk of standing for 1h would already give me pain. I am feeling much better now.
