Atezolizumab. New kid on the block?

So who's been offered this new supposed wonder drug?

I know I won't be offered it as I'm firmly in the "We don't operate on Stage 4/incurable but treatable"  camp, so I suppose I'm not considered cost effective.

But, it keeps coming up in my news feed and Im curious to know which lucky souls are being put on it?

  • Good morning.

I have immunotherapy Atezolizumab and Bevacizumab and I'm stage 4 treatable but not curable, so I don't understand your comment about cost effective. I think my MDT gave me what they feel is a suitable treatment plan for my cancer.

    Have a good day.

  • Hi Harebelle

Thank you for posting information about another promising treatment option.  I hope, many people if they can, are able to have it. These are truly fascinating times regarding developments for lung cancer treatments and I hope they continue, hopefully getting successful treatments for us all.

I wish everyone continual success within their treatments and individual journeys

  • Maybe it is being used in a different way now I.e. after surgery because Atezolizumab has been around for quite a number of years now and a lot of members have been and are on it so maybe it’s not that the drug is new but that there is another way to use it. Pembrolazumab for example only became a first line treatment in 2018 before that it was only used after chemo and or radiotherapy

Things are moving all the time

  • That report is a year old, but I do wonder what has changed, as Julie has mentioned, people were on Atezolizumab 4 years ago. Pop it into the search bar at the top and you will see posts from former members that were on it.
