Morning , had my post treatment scan done on the 30th dec and yesterday was the review meeting with oncologist… they said that this scan was a very early one ( only 3 weeks post treatment ) but they needed it because of the potential for immunotherapy that needs to be started within 43 days of treatment ending .. anyway , they said the results were good my tumour has reduced and responded to treatment and they seemed happy with that . That the 3 month scan would be the next key important one , the radiotherapy is still working within my body and the inflammation will reduce by that time which is the normal scan time …. This initial scan gives them a benchmark measure of the tumour going into immunotherapy… my immunotherapy will start on the 16:1 and it’s once a month for 13 months … duravalmab ? .. I’m a bit anxious going into another treatment regime so soon after this one … I’d be interested to hear of anyone’s positive experience of this immunotherapy drug ( I don’t need the negative ones as I’ve already read too many of those ) and anyone who had chemo radiation and saw improved results at the 3 and 6 month scans.
much love everyone , the journey continues and I’m grateful for that ….Elly x
Elly that really is good news! Makes all the days of feeling rubbish on treatment worth it doesn’t it, when you hear the good results. Hopefully someone will be along soon to share their experience of the immunotherapy with you. I believe the immunotherapy isn’t as harsh as the chemo, so hopefully you will sail through it. Xx
Thanks Chelle , weirdly I felt a bit flat , I guess we all want them to say “ that tumour has gone “ even though I knew that wasn’t even possible at this early scan … but I’m over that now , and just trying to get my head around the next phase x
I was diagnosed 2 years ago with stage 3 advanced nsclc which had spread to centre of chest, I had 3 cycles of chemo cisplatin and vilnaruben(thinks that’s the right spelling lol), during this I had 30 sessions of radiotherapy, then 4 weeks after finishing chemo was put on Immunotherapy the same drug as yourself, for 12 months, finished in May last year and last 3 scans have shown a good response to treatment, at moment my tumours are stable and not spread so would say so far been a good response.
Hope this helps, Evelyn
Hi EllyB,
after a couple months of being on Immunotherapy, my joints started to ache especially my hands I found it hard to grip things and to button up things as fingers were sore, GP prescibed codein phosphate which helped with the pain, still getting pain in hands but not as bad. Also severe diahorea but was given loperamide which I took when it was bad, eventually stopped when treatment finished. Other problem was trying to get a vein for the cannula it was horrendous, I dreaded that more than anything, hope this helps.
