I'm terrified of dying and leaving my three children without a Mummy. I've spent all Christmas pretending and I'm really scared.

  • Oh Rainbow,

I am so sorry you are experiencing this. As a mum, and as a lung cancer sufferer, I can fully empathise.

If your nodule is only 12mm, and the lymph nodes are clear, then, like me, you have an excellent chance of being rid of it completely. Reading other posts to do with lung cancer it seems there is much they can do nowadays, even those not discovered until stage 4 which, not that long ago, was palliative care only.

The odds are hugely in your favour for being there for you children.

Wishing you all the best and hoping you find some peace of mind.

    Paula xx

It didn't light up on the FDG PET-CT scan. Am getting a cancer blood test next Monday. Had the lung function tests today.

Thank you for your kind words x x It's weird but when I went and the registrar said that the nodule was 0.5mm and I was having a scan in 3 months. I thought it would have grown. The thought just crept into my head.

    I don't know what's happening. They don't seem to think it's cancer.

  • Half a millimetre is extremely tiny. It's unlikely it would grow very big in three months. Even half a centimetre is tiny. Mine (I had 3 nodules) were between 1 and 2cm, or (10 and 20mm). I had them removed on 15th December, 4 months after first learning they were cancerous following a PET scan during which they lit up. I've just heard that the lymph nodes they took out at the same time were clear which is great news. Incidentally I was left 3 months between scans and they hardly grew. Please  try not to worry, I truly believe they would be doing more if they thought it was necessary.

It's grown to 1.2mm. I realise that' not massive. I'd just rather it hadn't. I'm having a galleri blood cancer test on Monday. I've a massive bruise from an unsuccessful blood test today.

  • Hi  I am Interested to learn more about the galleri blood test? Is this done on the NHS?

I've not had the appointment yet when I know more will tell you x

  • Hiya,

Did you have all your nodules in 1 area?

    And what stage was it?

    Thank you.

  • Hi

I went into the operation having been told I had 3 nodules in my upper right lobe stages at T1(b)N0M0. However, during the op they discovered that there were only 2 nodules in the top right lobe; the other one was in the middle lobe. The day before yesterday I was told that the cancer had been removed and the lymph nodes they took out were clear. Cause for celebration. However, yesterday I was told I still had two ground glass opacities (which the three cancerous nodes started off as) but as they hadn't shown up on the PET scan. Also the nodules they took out were 2 x T1(b)N0M0 and 1 x T1(c)N0M0. I am going to be monitored for these and also any that may show up subsequently (apparently I am  'nodule generator'). It certainly sucks going from thinking it all over, to having these 2 nodules left over especially as one is in the left lung and one in the right. However, I have managed to put things in perspective. At the moment I am cancer free and will be monitored. I intend to carry on with normal life interrupted occasionally with the odd scan or appointment. If the nodules develop into cancer, I will opt to have them removed surgically as the operation wasn't that bad. They are constantly improving and adding treatments (I read recently of heat ablation being researched) so I remain hopeful.

    ;)

How do they know you're a nodule generator. Sorry to hear that xx Did they test your blood for the cancer cells that cancer gives off? Have you struggled to breathe? I do daily - no energy to wheel my wheelchair.
