Secondary cancer in lung - single nodule & wedge removal - surgery recovery time question

Hi

After having APR surgery as a result of colorectal cancer, it's now travelled to my left lung, currently one nodule still very small at only 1cm in size and growing.

I'm booked in for surgery at St.George's to remove it and I was wondering if anyone who has had this, could give me an indication of recovery times? How long I can expect to be in hospital and potentially how long before going back to work? Having said that I'm allowed to work from home for a bit and so will just be sitting at a desk with a computer.

Thank you.

Steve

  • Hi Steve, I haven’t had this surgery, but noticed your post hasn’t been answered yet. Do you know if it is just the nodule they are removing? Or a wedge of lung, or a lobe? This may help with someone else sharing their experience with you x

  • Hi Chelle

Thank you for this reply, much appreciated.

They will be removing a wedge of the lung.

    All the best

  • If I had read your title properly, I would of seen you said wedge removal. Apologies Steve.

I would of thought you could get back to working from home quite quickly. Of course everyone is different but I have seen posts from people who have recovered well.

I have done a quick search of the group to see if I could find any posts that might be useful to you. If you go to the search bar at the top of the page and type in wedge resection, it will bring up some old posts for you. Sorry I couldn’t be anymore help x
