Hi everyone
mum driving myself bonkers searching the Internet to try to understand what on earth is going on.
we have been told my husband has stage 4 lung cancer.
on CT scans there is a mass measuring 25mm and another mass in the left hilar region.
he has necrotic lymph nodes
he has had three pleural effusions.
he has never had a biopsy of any kind and has never seen an oncologist.
he was sent home and told to enjoy his remaining months of life.
he’s currently doing really well
his sats are mid nineties and his attitude is quite good.
meanwhile I’m convincing myself they’ve Mia diagnosed him and he has an abscess or he has sarcoidosis ( similar symptoms) I’m convincing myself they’ve made a mistake. But I also want to know, exactly what he has. His letters just say mass and necrotic lymph nodes and I find articles about misdiagnosis and then I convince myself they’re wrong. Do they really know ? Just from ct scans ? I don’t know if it’s SC or NSC nothing
I feel abandoned and ignored.
he has a catheter now and I can’t get a district nurse to help me.
many thoughts much appreciated ?
he has no pain whatsoever
rhanks M
Hi its always hard to take in information i had an xray the next day a call telling me i had lung cancer after ct scans biopsy pet ct i was given a diagnosis of stage 4 lung cancer, if you think you've been given the wrong diagnosis then my advise would be a second opinion as stage 4 doesn't always mean terminal it means not curable but like mine controlled by treatment, this isn't always the case as it can and does all to often take life to early. But please dont use the internet to find info as it can be very miss leading get that second opinion or pick up the phone and speak to mcmillan.
All the best

Part of the problem is that a lot of what they do is based on probabilities. I don't think it's easy for them to be certain; they can only make a judgement based on the evidence they have - which might not be conclusive. All you can do is go with the flow. I know your post was a while ago. I hope you're feeling a little less troubled
i lost him two days ago. Just five months from the first diagnosis
