Hiya, I’m an almost 64 year old female who lives in Dorset beside the coast.
The last month has been a whirlwind to the point I can’t think straight or have any desire to move off sofa or get out of bed. I feel so sick that I can’t eat properly.
started off with visit to doc due to constant pain in left side of back at lung level. I kept saying to people for few weeks that I couldn’t explain the pain and that it felt like something was inside me. I had also coughed a minute amount of blood. I was sent straight for X-ray on fast track suspected lung cancer. Since then I’ve had ct scan then visit to consultant they referred me for lung biopsy, which I had last week and a PET scan which is today. On Friday ( my birthday of all days), I have another appointment with consultant. Since biopsy, I have taken oramorph for couple days for awful pain that nothing would help. That’s all fine now and I’ve almost recovered from it. As I’ve been called back on Friday after consultant has pet results I’m literally petrified as to the outcome. My theory is that obviously the biopsy has showed positive and the pet scan is going to show how or if it’s spread. I have no idea how to just get through next couple of days. xx

  • Hiya Essjay58.

I know what a confusing state you are in because I have been in your position, I was diagnosed with lung NSCLC lung cancer at Christmas, you are allowed to be scared anxious and tired. Give yourself time and don’t assume anything you never know it could be positive news in a couple of days. So take as much time as you need in bed or on the sofa.

as for coping with the next couple of days listen to your favourite music, read a slushy book (my book was Harry Potter) and I see from your post you are fortunate to live in a lovely location by the coast so if you can get out and enjoy the views.

my cancer is not curable but it can be treated, my last CT scan showed an improvement so that was my positive, please let us know what your outcome is, we are all here for the same reason and we are happy to support each other, I had my down days initially and some very kind people on this forum picked me up and supported me and for that I was very great full. In the meantime take care sending you virtual hugs

  • Hi and welcome i was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal lung cancer in November 2020 I've been on the saron trial which is  control not a cure, dont give up and try not to worry until you need to . I think ive actually been very lucky i had no issues with my radiotherapy and minor side effects from the pembrolizumab but they dissappear like i said mine is in my lung and migration to my adrenal gland and aortic lymph nodes in my abdomen but my oncologist gave me some news she never thought she would and that was other than the tumour in my lung that has been shrunk to 6mm the other sites are all but gone they stop my trial this Christmas it would be amazing to be in remission for Christmas.

    Best wishes

    Darren
