Morning All,
What a wonderful resource this is.
My husband has been fit and well until about six weeks ago.
a chest X-ray showed a mass and a smaller mass. Also a massive amount of fluid in lower left.
he had fluid drained now four times in the last three weeks.
I know we are waiting and have biopsy’s and things booked but what I can’t understand is how different he is in such a short time.
not eating, sleeping all day, hasn’t left the house for six weeks and lost almost three stone.
should I be more aggressive with speeding things up or is this how it goes ?
he has barely spoken in the last week.
I can’t work out if this is shock, and emotional reaction or a rapid decline.
he’s told me ‘ I will be gone soon, but it’s OK ‘ which isn’t like him. He has never been passive about anything in his life.
I am at a loss as to what to do to help him.
Any thoughts or advice gratefully received.
thanks
Mary
Hi mary its always a worry but everyone is different the doctors will always work as fast as they can to get things sortef tests etc but if you feel thr need to ask questions then do so there is no harm in it.
Try not to worry until you know exactly what your dealing with and again a diagnosis might be the same as someone else but your body will react differently to everything, i have stage 4 lung cancer was told i am terminal but they cant say how long i have due to the trial treatment i am on and that finishes this December after two years. Being told i am dying was a shock and we always think cancer is definitely goning to be horrible ride but other than fatigue and the odd side effect from treament i feel no different than before i was diagnosed but i keep a very positive attitude towards it hope you get some news soon best wishes darren
Dear Darren
thank you for your response. It’s good to hear that there is time for treatments to help. I wish I could import your positivity as my husband has just given up entirely in the last week.
even before the diagnosis
I’ve stopped being positive as it seems to push him into a rage.
stay well
thanks again for your words
mary
