my wife has been on Sotorasib for 12 weeks and is getting encouraging results from first PET/CT Scan however the side effects are really make her life very tough

she has a bad cough ,breathlessness going up stairs and is very fatigued(legs feel l;ike jelly)

also she has virtually no appetite and gets ice cold feet.

has any one been on this drug?

Can you help with understanding how long side effects last?

Thanks

  • Hi haring1982 sorry you haven’t had a reply your post here. Have you spoken to your wife’s team about these side effects? You could also ask in the Ask a Nurse here in the community.

Great to hear that encouraging results from the PET scan. Hope she can manage the side effects a little better x

  • thanks for your reply .Unfortunately they dont have anyone else on the drug so hoping someone on here could help

  • From what I can find out about sotorasib is it is a new drug, which was only launched by the NHS last September.  From the information that I have read about it, it sounds like a very promising new drug which is only being offered to 600 people initially.  Unfortunately it does not seem that anybody else on the forum is currently on this drug, so I am sorry you probably wont get the answer here, but this new drug is definitely very exciting.  The side effects mentioned in the information I have read, does seem to mirror your wife's symptoms, but I cannot find any information regarding how long these last.

If you don't mind I will be sharing some information that I have found on Sotorasib, as I think the group will be excited by this new drug.

  • Hi ,hope you are well ?  my Dad is on Sotorasib has been on it about 6 weeks , awaiting ct results so not sure if its helping . First few weeks he was fine no side affects but now he is hardly eating , aches and pains , nausea and loose stools ! How is your wife getting on ? have her side affects continued ? I have read that you can reduce the dose if side affects are to much , but not sure how effective they will be reduced ! Would be interesting to see how your wife is getting on with the Sotorasib and the side affects . At the moment I feel its doing my Dad more harm than good !
