Surgery not an option

Hi,

I have stage T2 N2 M0 Addenocarconoma diagnosis. I have been told surgery is not an option for me because of cancer being in my bronchial tube.

I would like to hear from anyone with.a similar situation, as I was lead to believe that surgery was the best option. Does chemotherapy and other treatments have as good a prognosis for a long term cure?

Any thoughts or experiences would be helpful.

Many thanks

  • Hello there

so sorry about your situation, I think the location of the cancer is the key to suitability for surgery & unfortunately if yours is in your bronchial tube this would prevent surgery . I was recently diagnosed & had a lobectomy for adenocarcinoma . No symptoms, picked up on a scan for something completely different ! Pulmonologist duly followed up with a re scan after 6 months & nodule had grown. Confirmed adenocarcinoma when frozen section taken while I was anaesthetised & proceeded to lobectomy on 30th dec. I only know it’s adenocarcinoma , will find out on the 28th this month what stage. Surgeon (who is brilliant !) is sure there is no lymph involvement but may need some chemo/radiotherapy. I really think your drs will do everything they can for you & chemo has gotten so much better. I read some of the posts on here & I am blown away by peoples bravery & courage !! Makes me feel like this is a great group to offload on. My husband is almost ignoring what is going on with me so I end up supporting him. I’ve been told off by my GP for doing to much & now have agreed to still stay active but not trying to clean the house from top to bottom ! No wonder im sore !!  Sorry for the essay !! But please stay positive & Im sure you will get all the support & help you need xxx

    Good morning lovely people.

2nd CT scan on 17 April this tear (R upper lobectomy Dec. 2022) recent scan has shown my middle lobe is compressed. Having bronchial lavage on the 23rd May. Letter to GP from consultant described it as possible middle lobe syndrome,  GP unsure what this is. Regular chest infections but one in December this year & a few weeks ago really floored me. Throat is quite raw & my voice is quite hoarse. Anyone able to suggest any ideas on what's going on with me ?

    1. Hi being inoperable isn't the end of it so dont dwell on it too much easier said than done i know,  i have stage 4 adenocarcinoma effects my lung ,adrenal glands and lymph system. My only choice was immunotherapy and radiotherapy and its kept me stable for 14 month's now i feel ok other than fatigue, good luck ask your team questions.
  • You said it better than anyone !!! Xx
