Hello Everyone.
Needed someone to talk to regarding our situation. My wife has a persistent tickly cough , (but can go 2 hours without coughing and does not cough at night ?) and went to the GP who sent her for an x-ray . This shows a 2cm shadow on the right lung.
We have now been for a CT scan and the results back in 7 to 10 day so possibly Christmas Eve.
I have had my own serious health issues in the past , but I have never been more scared than I am at the moment for my wife . Almost overwhelming. I am trying to keep strong for my wife but finding it tough . Trying to keep her and myself distracted and now back working .
I am afraid I have googled to much and scared myself even more. Stopped doing that now , as I can see its not helped me at all. Looked at the Tier system for grading cancers and to me it could be anything from nothing to stage 4 so not helpful at all.
Any advice welcome and good luck to everyone in this situation or being treated
I'm really sorry to hear about your situation. I found taking things as they come is important, not to over think or guess what might be around the corner.
Keep to what you know and trust the medical team will let you know any news in due course.
I really wish you the best
Thank you . I really appreciate the advice and your best wishes. Thanks again .Mike
Hi there Mike
Just wanted to say a quick hello as my dear father-in-law is facing a similar sort of situation - we're awaiting more information at the moment. I know how hard it can be waiting and worrying on behalf of someone else. Will be hoping for good news for you!
Very best to you and your wife
Bea
Thanks for you reply , it is really appreciated , and best wishes to your Father-in-Law. My wife is now waiting for a CT guided Biopsy to confirm the diagnosis and provide more detail for the docs . The Team seem pretty sure it is cancer, but it has not spread , so aiming for a wedge resection early in the new Year. As you can imagine we are very anxious , but trying to stay positive. Best wishes to your family . From the little I know there are a lot of good treatments out there. Happy to chat at anytime . I know it is helping me. Mike
Hi Mike JC
I am in a similar situation to your wife and had my biopsy in November with result early December confirming tumour on left lung upper lobe. Thankfully it is localised so I am now having a telephone consultation with h my surgeon on 14th January to discuss what will be happening. I also just have the cough with no other symptoms, and it was by chance the shadow showed in CT scan for a head injury I had back in September (just tripped on stairs!)
The rest is history as they say. I do wish your wife and you all best wishes for the New Year, and hope results are hopeful
Kind regards to you both
Thank you . Best Wishes for the New Year, and hope all goes well for you.
Well we did not get the News we wanted on Christmas Eve and now have a CT guided biopsy booked for the 12/01 to confirm their cancer diagnosis, Cell activity was seen on the PET scan. They say it is localised and once confirmed the treatment likely to be a wedge resection. An anxious time but strangely we are calmer knowing the diagnosis. Hope you managed to enjoy Christmas and good luck on the 14th.
This cannot move fast enough as as I am concerned, as concerned about it spreading before being removed.
Kind Regards
Mike
Hello again and sorry about the diagnosis, but as you say feeling a bit calmer is much the same as me and my daughter.
I'm finding the waiting game hard as I can't stop thinking it's grown, or spread, or both!
My daughter tells me to think positive and I know I must..
Christmas and New Year was quiet but fine by me thank you.
Good luck for 12rh and hope all goes well .
Thinking about you both and best wishes to you
Hi mike if its localised then you will probably have a better chance of it being removed, i was diagnosed stage 4 but my treatment is keeping it stable mine had spread from my lung to adrenal glands and lymph system. I went to the doctor with a cough and fatigue, sent for chest x-ray had a call the next day saying i had a shadow on my lung went back a week later had ct scan followed by lung guntion test bloods and biopsy and pet scan and told the following week my diagnosed. Just stay positive and talk about any concerns you both have also its ok to be scared its only human i went on my own for all my appointments due to covid and only just jow is my wife coming along good luck.
Hi
Thanks for taking the time to message me. We both have our fingers crossed that it can be removed. The Bronchoscopy was inconclusive as they could not reach the tumour, so waiting for the CT Guided Biopsy next week. I am glad your condition is being kept stable and I wish you all the best for the future. We are trying to stay positive but certainly scared as well. Keeping busy to try and take our minds off it as we wait for all the different tests. Really glad you have your wife for support at your appointments now. Mike
