Hi Nicole, I am very sorry to hear this. When everything was going smoothly, you get a spanner thrown into the works, I can understand how worried you are about this. I have seen that you have connected with another member in a different thread that has experienced the same, so I am so glad you have found some support there.
Please let us know how she gets on next week with the oncologist. Wishing her all the very best x
Hi Chell:
what a punch to the guts,
It’s all the waiting again for results and to see what they will or want do xxx
xx thank u for messaging x lots of love xxx
Hi I'm just going through the same I have x2 chemo and immunotherapy went for my bloods showing liver damage treatment now stopped been on high doseage of steroids now nearly 2 weeks weeks slowly weaning me off but gone from 75grams to 30 still at 30 now blood test tomorrow and Friday to see if we can drop more as can't have treatment while on steroids hoping this sorts its self as I want to go back on treatment I have terminal lung cancer which my treatments working as its strinking fingers crossed as unsure what will happen next feel well in myself just aching and tired I'm 51 years old
Hiya Toniblade
so sorry your going through this . Wish I could change it for everyone on here .
so my mum had steroids she was on 30 mg. she had to wait 2 weeks , and then they continued her treatment , as her blood results showed the liver was back Normal,
my mums cancer is treatable with immunotherapy and chemo , but not operable or even a cure for this disease ,
mum is fit and well aswell and didn’t even kno there was anything wrong with liver.
Once your liver is bk to normal I’m sure they will Continue normal treatment,
when do you get results of your bloods ? Xxx
x
Hi I go back tomorrow and get results tomorrow afternoon and same again Friday I'm at 30 now hopefully if showing any better they might drop by 5 and same week end I was the same as your mum didn't know felt OK was on 4 cycle of chemo and immunotherapy just felt a bit more tired so fingers crossed for me tomorrow as just want to carry on I'm same as your mum not opratable they hoping to maintain are strink the cancer its in left lower lung and chest liponed idiot even know I was ill straight stage 4 was working at hospital on covid ward doing 60hrs a week though weigh loss was due to all work ppe hardest thing now is not been able to work hope your mum goes on OK not nice but was glad to read someone going through same experience don't feel alone now xxxx
Hi Toniblade,
please don’t feel alone, this will make u feel More positive , my mums ct scan last week showed that the cancer is shrinking and the treatment is doing it’s job she has had 4 cycles of 2 chemo and 1 immunotherapy
And now the treatment is 1 chemo and 1 immunotherapy every 21 days apart
she had her 7th round Thursday just gone.
so my mum was diagnosed in April this year started treatment in June / very similar to your story a bit of weight loss as mum only 8.5 stone before this diagnosis, but she was fit and well and looking after my little girL who is 5,
It comes as a shock, especially as the typically symptoms were not present when being diagnosed,
my mums cancer is in the top of her left lung and spotting on her adrenal gland/. My mum has only said that the oncologist said it is treatable,
there are many people on the site who hve had 2 years of immunotherapy and they are doing great with there regular scans , and the disease is stable or in remission. Please find these stories , you need to be positive, and surround yourself with positive information ;)
Everyone’s cancer journey is different, some people tolerate stuff better than others /. Sometimes dosages may need changing, some people get infections, but the oncologist are amazing and the medicines are so advanced aswell,
Please let me kno of the results xx
Hi Toniblade
Like yourself and Trainspotters mum (I’ve been messaging trainspotter on a separate forum) my husband had the same liver reaction to the immunotherapy (Keytruda or as it’s known Pembrozulimab) and he had steroid treatment for three weeks, his was after only his first treatment so it’s been a tough time waiting to start again, which he did two weeks ago. His lung cancer is also inoperable and therefore incurable but we are hoping the treatment will slow or even shrink the tumours (left lung and lymph nodes). His last CT scan showed little change which his oncologist said was good considering he’s only had one cycle of chemotherapy with immunotherapy.
Like Trainspotter I find it somewhat helpful to read about other’s experiences and ways of dealing with the stress of cancer. My profile details our journey so far and I’m always glad to “talk” or “listen” if you need someone to.
