Mum has had her diagnosis back and she has level 4 non small cell in her bottom half of lung and leg.
She is having chemo but they haven’t mentioned surgery, what does this all mean? Please be honest
Hi Kickass This is very difficult to answer as everyone's cancer journey is different. The fact that they have offered chemotherapy to your mum is good. Where there is treatment there is hope. Surgery isn't possible for a lot of people for many different reasons. Although I had a tumour removed from my bronchial airway, I couldn't have the tumours from my lungs removed as there were just too many.
I hope your mums chemo goes well for her. Once you know which chemo she is having I am sure there will be someone here who can share their experience with you.
Take care
Thank you Chelle,
ive come across some attitudes from my family, when asked what level and type of cancer my mum, now I dare not ask the chemo type.
this group has been a god send to me
Hi kickass, I have NSCLC, stage 4, terminal, at first I thought it was my death sentence, but going forward to now, I'm the best I've been for months.
Each consultant has their own treatment programme they use and I think mine was quite Conservative.
I had 3 rounds of chemo 21days apart, a scan and one more Chemo. After five weeks I had 13 days of radiotherapy. I now have to wait for a scan, on the 11th October. And have been offered no more Treatment until I start to deteriorate again and have been told I can have immunotherapy.
I have two tumors, one on the airway as it goes into the lung and one on the lower left side of my lung that has attached itself to the wall of the lung, and the top of my lung has collapsed, this is all in my left lung.
I did well on the treatments, suffered with severe constipation, and had days when I struggled to walk, due to the injections I took for my white blood cells. Also tiredness, but felt I got off lightly compared to some. I had no nausea or sickness, but made sure I took my medication as prescribed.
We are all different how we react to our treatments. But so far it's been positive for me, and I'm doing things now, a month ago I couldn't do. Walking more, going shopping, doing more housework, get breathless, but not like before.
Wish your Mum well on her journey, and I hope she dose well.
Here if you want a chat or rant.
