I'm having my first treatment of keytruda on Friday and just wondered if anyone else on here is also having it?

So glad to be starting treatment but extremely nervous and weepy about the whole situation.

    Hi Gill

How are you doing? Hope you had  lovely Christmas. Ours was quiet but nice and relaxing.

All change for me unfortunately. Had 5 cycles of the Keytruda (3 weekly) so 15 weeks worth. 2  CT scans have shown new growth in lymph nodes in pelvic area and my neck so immunotherapy isn't working for me so has stopped as of yesterday. Also, my lung has collapsed even more.

Only choice is to go back on chemo orally a its kinder on my more frail body. W have also asked about local trials which Oncologist is enquiring about for us.

I have oxygen now when I go out for a walk... called it Olly...so Olly is taken for a walk on its trolley lol. Seems to help my recovery afterwards. Shame the oxygen  delivery guy fell in the water when he brought the trolley onboard though! Whoops! A dunking wasnt good on Christmas Eve but we got him out safely at least.

Would be good to hear from you. Happy New Year.

Hi there....I'm so sorry that the immunotherapy hasn't worked for you. Fingers crossed they can get you on a trial. I live quite near Christie Hospital and there are always a number of trials going on there so hopefully it's the same across the UK.

Good that you have got 'olly' as at least you can still get out....not that the weather has been nice!

I do hope youve had a nice Christmas...ours has been really quiet due to do many friends catching covid..so we've just stayed in.

Take tons of care and keep in touch..let's hope the chemo tablets can poisen some of those evil flippin cells xxxxx

    Thanks Gill

Think today I have decided to just go the chemo route and forget the trials. They seem more effort than I want but will discuss with Oncologist next time.

    Take care

Just hope you give it your best shot .. whilst there's treatment there is hope....there's always hope. Maybe have chemo now and see how it goes and then trials if it doesn't work out. Just stay positive and try and enjoy the new year xxxx

    Hi Gill

I am fine thanks, coming to terms with my situation now. I have an Oncology review on Thursday where we discuss my next steps so will be arranging th Chemo then I expect. At least I can take the capsules at home so less risk from others and that awful Covid.

Hope you are doing well too.

Hi...do you mean you can have the chemo as a tablet instead of infusion? Hope so for your sake as less hassle and safer, as you say, from catching covid. Will you need to stay on oxygen permanently? It's just crappy all this isnt it. I've been trying to stay positive but how I wish things could be 'normal'. I found out yesterday, whilst having a completely unrelated ultrasound of my gallbladder, that they could see fluid on my lung again :-(... So they are notifying my GP etc. Just hope it doesnt result in needing another tube fitted as only just healed from the last one.

I hope you are having a good weekend and that you're feeling ok too and that Thursday brings some positivity to you xx

    Hi Gill

Yes I will have the chemo in tablet form only. Apparently it is less harsh taken orally. He said there were other duel chemo options but not suitable for me due to reduced health.

That's horrible news about the fluid. Hopefully it will begin to drain naturally or at least hopefully can just be aspirated as a one off.

I am feeling fairly good at present considering all that's going on. Began crocheting this week for the first time since I was a kid. Keeps me occupied for a while. Found loads of wool I never used when I was knitting for my new granddaughter 5-6 years ago lol. Pink and white blanket it is then!

Have a good weekend. We can do this!

I envy your ability to crochet...I can just about knit as long as someone else starts and finishes it :-)

Fingers crossed the chemo will poison some of the evil cells and get you feeling better. Please consider trials though if it doesn't work. I know it seems daunting but we have to fight this buggar... Please message me any time and I'll do everything I can to get you feeling more positive .... we're on this together xxxx
