Hi
I just wondered if anyone has had the following chemotherapy treatment and what your symptoms were like a few days after?
My Dad has his first session of Carboplatin and Etoposide on Tuesday with Atezolizumab, today he’s sleepy and a little bit of diarreah, which I know are common side effects but just seeing how people were and how long you felt that way?
Thank you

Hi Lucie
I can't give you any experience with carboplatin and etoposide but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. This could be because this is such an active group that your post has slipped off the first page before someone with the right experience has seen it. Replying to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.
If you haven't done this already, if you type 'carboplatin and etoposide' into the search bar at the top of the page you'll find lots of previous posts on this combination of drugs. You could have a read through some of them and respond to any of the more recent posts if you wanted to ask the poster any further questions.
While you're waiting for replies it would be great if you could pop something about your dad's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi, I am new on here but like your dad was on those 3 treatments. I was diagnosed with 2 types of lung cancer back in November last year. ( the main one being small cell lung cancer) started treatment in December and had 4 treatments all together. Main side effects were feeling sick, but the sickness tablets were very good, tiredness and aching bones when I had to do the injections ( to boost bone marrow) after 4 treatments I had a scan and it had reduced by 50% which was fantastic, so I’m now just on the Atezolizumab, once every 3 weeks with little side effects. The cancer is stable atherton the moment. Any questions, feel free to ask .
Hi
Thats great news about the reduction, congratulations!!
He had his second cycle 11 days ago, he seems to be more tired this time around and doesn’t have much energy, he’s lost a lot of muscle in his legs, which he finds very frustrating so can’t get about as much as he would like, apart from the fatigue, he hasn’t experienced any sickness or other side effects tbh but the tiredness is lurking.
Thank you for your reply, all the best and continue to wish you well xx
Hi, mine seemed to get easier as I went on, sleep when he’s tired, and a short walk when he’s not, but don’t try to overdo things. I have mor energy now the chemo has stopped, and just take it easy the week I have the immunotherapy treatment, and I don’t beat myself up if I take a day off and do nothing ! Good luck for the rest of his treatment xx
