My Mum has Extensive SCLC and is to receive Radiotherapy. Mum indicated that this was for the tumour in her spine but they have tattooed her tummy in preparation of this on Thursday. If its for the spine would they not do this on the back. TBH Mum could have got this wrong that its for the spine, as it it has spread to Liver, Lymph, lymph glands in her right shoulder and her spine.
It's likely that your Mum will have to lay on her back during the brief radiotherapy sessions which is why the tattoos are on her tummy. The beam will be focussed to hit the desired treatment area.
