  • Hi Daisy_21

I completed 2 years of immunotherapy (Pembrolazumab)in September of 2020 and have been on watch and wait since,  having 3 monthly scans and up to now still remain stable. I had a good 2 years on immunotherapy, the only side effect I had was an itch, which was sorted with an antihistamine tablet and some moisturiser but bearing in mind the itch is an itch that you are prepared to scratch to the bone to reach. The immunotherapy I had was a first line treatment for me, which means it was the first I had, ive had nothing else so far, no chemo, no radiotherapy.
The immunotherapy trains your own immune system to attack the cancer and as I am 3 years on 1 of which I’ve had no treatment after a prognosis of 3-6 months without treatment I think it’s worked well so far.

I hope your husband has a good response to his treatment

  • Hi Julie

Thank you for your reply.  I'm so happy for you that your treatment is working well for you.  I'm crossing my fingers that it will be the same for my husband.

  • Hi Daisy, sorry to hear of your husband’s diagnosis.  I had immunotherapy from January 2018 to April 2020 for Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the lung. I had a slight reaction to the first injection, but they gave me Piriton and steroids after that with each injection and I had no problems afterwards.  I have had no treatment since April 2020 but still have CT scans to check my progress.  My next scan should be in August.  They couldn’t operate and I was only offered immunotherapy but I am very pleased with my progress.  Like Julie I was given 6 months (without treatment) so I hope all goes well for your husband.

  • thank you very much for your input, it gives us hope x
