Hi

I am new to the group.

I was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma in January and am scheduled to have transphenoidal surgery in a few weeks.

I wondered if anyone has experience of this type of tumour or surgery?

Thanks

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the online community although I'm sorry you've had to find us.

I'm afraid I don't have experience with your type of cancer but just popped in from the melanoma group as I'd noticed you hadn't had any replies. I tried entering craniopharyngioma and transphenodial into the search bar in the group and nothing came up so you may not get any replies. I did find this information on craniopharyngiona tumours but you probably already know this.

You could post your question online in the Ask a nurse section where a nurse will aim to get back to you within 2 working days or phone the Macmillan Support Line on 0800 808 0000. It's free to call, open from 9am to 8pm Monday to Friday and staffed by trained experts.

I hope you get the answers you're looking for soon.

    All the best

  • New to this diagnosis too, and keen to learn more.

  • Hi RugbyMom and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

You might not have noticed when replying to this post but it was posted over 5 years ago and the poster is now a 'FormerMember' so won't see your reply.

If you want to know more about craniopharyngioma, then the best thing to do would be to join this group and then start a new post. That way other members of the group will see your post and share their experience with you.

In the meantime, it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you need any help navigating the community I'd be pleased to help.
