Hi NormH (Stuart). I am sorry you are having a running battle with the side effects of immunotherapy. I have metastatic cancer and my secondaries first appeared in my liver but my primary cancer was triple negative breast cancer rather than bowel cancer. Are you still being treated with immunotherapy or are the side effects so serious you have had to stop? I also wondered which immunotherapy drug?

My own experience of immunotherapy was pembrolizumab which I had alongside the chemo drug NAB-Paclitaxel. After about 5 months I had to stop treatment due to my immune system causing significant damage to my kidneys, thyroid and lungs. It took 9 months of high dose steroids to stabilise things and several months to get over the steroids. This class of drugs can be an absolute game changer as far as cancer is concerned (mine was put into what has so far been a sustained remission), but they are also quite high risk. They also continue to work in your body for some time after stopping treatment, so side effects can linger. 

If you post a bit more about the drug you are on or have had and the particular side effects, someone may come along with the same experience. This forum tends to be quiet. I can see you have joined the bowel cancer forum and the living with incurable cancer forum. Both those forums are much busier than this one and it might be you get more responses if you post the same detail on those forums.
