Reaching Out - Stage 4 Colon and Secondary Liver Cancer

Hi, this is all new to me but as a 33 year old male who has two daughters and feeling fit and healthy to being told I have incurable cancer and could have months to live is quite a culture shock!

It is scary, and I am worried about my family and what I will eventually leave behind. I am also angry and confused and taking each day at a time. Lastly I am positive! They may not cure my cancer(s) but I am hopeful they can keep them at bay so I can fulfill my goals of seeing my daughter's getting older and wiser.

I have a thousand questions, and some I am sure I don't want answers to but reaching out and saying "hello" to anyone who has had a similar experience and fancied chatting through what/how they are managing their journey.

If anything, it's nice to write this down as every little helps when it comes to accepting my diagnosis and what lies ahead.

Thanks for reading!

  • Hi Steve and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read about your recent diagnosis but I'm glad that writing things down has helped a bit.

As you know, the online community is divided up into different support groups so I hope you don't mind me recommending a couple more for you to join. The first is the bowel cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions around treatment, etc and share experiences with others who have this type of cancer, and the second is the living with incurable cancer group which is specifically for people with an incurable or terminal diagnosis to discuss your feelings openly.

If you'd like to join either or both of these groups just click on the links I've created and then join and post in the same way as you did here. You can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

If you have any difficulty navigating the community just drop me a reply and I'll be pleased to help
