Hi,
My husband has now been commenced on Zomorph 10 mg twice a day and paracetamol four times a day with oramorph for breakthrough pain. I am wondering how long before he should feel the benefit of these .This is only his second day on this regime and I realise it may take some time for this to be effective, but so far his pain remains unchanged.
Hi Mya
I'm sorry to read how much pain your husband is in and it must be very distressing for you both.

If your husband is still in pain, please do go back to either his GP or consultant to get more/different pain relief. You could also give the Macmillan Support Line a call on 0808 808 000 and talk to one of the nurses. It's free to call and they're available every day from 8am to 8pm. In fact, why don't you give them a call now. You might also find this information from Macmillan about pain useful to have a look through.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hi Latchbrook, Hubby's palliative care nurse has now doubled his Zomorph and Oramorph and will visit him again in Monday to review it. We have also visited the Beatson cancer research hospital and the professor we spoke with has added in paracetamol four times a day . Although he still has pain it has lessened slightly. He has also signed up to take part in any new trials that may begin in the future as long as he is still fit enough to do so at the time .
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
