Hi just wondered how long we should expect to wait for first oncology appointment. Hubby first took ill November last year. Diagnosed melanoma in his eye had this removed end jan this year.  Follow up appointment middle of March all good told he would be seen in 6 months. He’d had a mri same day as eye appointment as we had been told it could spread to the liver.  Just over 2 weeks later we received a phone call to say it had spread to his liver   Asked about surgery or transplant told no.  Received letter a week later said multiple metastasis he’s not been given an appointment till beginning of May.  We have no information neither has our gp. Has anyone else waited this long to be seen.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that your husband has been diagnosed with melanoma which has spread to his liver and it's natural to want to see how quickly others have been seen.

As the online community is divided into different support forums, you might also want to join and post your question in the eye cancer forum where you'll connect directly with others who have a similar diagnosis to your husband.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
