Mums barely been discharged from hospital...12th February....after having liver resection...( Whole right side...bit of left and portion of diaphragm removed). Jan CT scan......nothing......march CT scan.......4cm tumour in segment 4 liver and possible lung nodes. Another 6 chemos needed ( at least)....then ablation. Please someone tell me that this nightmare will end and she will be cancer free......please!!!!!!! Mums losing the will now!!!!!

My mum too had a quick recurrence and it was so tough seeing her just recover from one surgery to face more chemo and intervention. I think some people are fortunate enough to only need one procedure and onwards to Ned but as someone once said there can be several steps to NED and I think that’s the insidious nature of microscopic disease . It certainly took one further cycle of chemo then surgery to rid my mum of all the disease but it was in the end worth it and her liver has remained clear for ten years .
I think we communicated before. I remember your user name ! This is so tough physically and emotionally for your mum and emotionally draining for you . Picking yourself back up after a quick recurrence is not easy but strength to you both and every success going forwards .
Once the microdisease was eliminated the job was in fact completed ! The lung nodule was the easiest aspect for my mum to manage compared to the others .
So sorry your mum has hit this bump on the road but she will gather her strength and with your help get through this .
Take care ,

Hello Court....yes I've posted before. Your story and words are so comforting.....cancer is such a lonely place and I never realised how tough this would be watching mum go through this. What dosnt help is that I'm going blind from cataracts....pretty much relying on my right eye which isn't as bad as the left...and I'm in my 40s. I was born with them unfortunately but they have been stable for years! I will have to delay surgery now for as long as I can. Plus our dog went into heart failure in the new year.....she's doing really well on medication, but she is still a worry ( she is 14.....but our furbaby!).
Anyway....I'm still very lucky to have many things....including mum. Thank you for your lovely reply.
From what you posted it sounds as though they are still aiming for treating the mets and returning her to a better position and I would hold onto that with both hands as they can see a solution .
It is overwhelming in so many ways but once she is over this hurdle it will hopefully settle . My mum had two years on intensive treatment then she got a rest . That was a period to restore her health and enjoy things again and brought a balance back .
The stage you are at is a teeth clenched stage where you are continually responding to this rollercoaster but it should hopefully improve soon .
That is such a difficult situation for you with your eyes . My friends son has had the same at 21 and deteriorated over lockdown . I think in the end they paid privately to get one eye done and waiting on the second . I hope you can get some help with it soon . You could tell them the situation with your mum and see if they can dovetail a bit with her care . They are normally quite compassionate with that . Is her care in the same hospital as you are treated as they may be familiar with each other. Etc .
My sister has a new lab and we all adore him . First time in our family and we go a Saturday morning walk with him . I am amazed how attached we have all become . I could never have believed it . So I totally get what your saying . Your dog is precious to you .
Take strength from Her plan and I hope to hear better news for you all soon .
