My appointment

I was told after my Colonoscopy that I had two lesions on my Liver and had chemo/radiation treatment on the largest one which went well so I was told. I then had a CT Scan appointment booked for Sunday 29th March which was cancelled by letter as the Corona Virus was just kicking in. I rang them a day later and was told that I might have to wait for another appointment until the pandemic had subsided which then was anticipated to be 12 weeks. As I had already had a procedure on one lesion on my liver I assumed that the postponed appointment was to see how my other lesion was getting on. So now I am getting a little concerned about the second lesion is it growing to any extent and should I ring the hospital to see if I am due to have the cancelled scan reintroduced. Is it likely that this virus has made things more difficult for me to get another appointment. Am I getting a little worried.about nothing and should I just wait. I would be happy to have your views on my situation. Thank you.

  • Hi

It's natural to worry that your second lesion might be growing and I certainly don't think it would do any harm to give your CNS a call and see if she knows when your scan is likely to be rescheduled for.

At yesterday's coronavirus press briefing it was announced that some hospitals should be able to start resuming non-coronavirus related treatment and yours might be one of those.

    Hello Latchbrook

    Thanks for your answer.

I have been on the phone to my oncologist(?) but I can never get an answer on the phone. I suppose the virus has kept all the people very busy in our hospitals but I shall continue to keep trying next week. There must be someone there eventually.

  • Hi ,

Thats a difficult situation to navigate . If you click on my user name you will see my mum’s story and she has been a stage 4 patient for nearly 11 years . Just to reassure you she has had quite a prolonged period of time between detection and surgery . However I think you are right to pursue this . Firstly I would put it in writing rather than the phone as it leaves a paper trail ! I would email your treatment team seeking a plan for you’re ongoing treatment . If you don’t get any joy with that I would certainly contact your PALs section of your hospital and they should hopefully help you navigate this . You have been patient but it does need a plan .

You could also contact our helpline staff 0808 808 0000 to get guidance on how to proceed. Things are certainly starting to improve now with a lot more movement of care so hopefully that will happen for you too .

    Take care ,

Hi Court..... I hope you are keeping well in these difficult times.

Its seems I have had a some success as yesterday I had a call from the secretary of my Oncologist in radiation and she told me that an appointment is being arranged for me to have the CT Liver triple phase appointment which was cancelled in March, So that is in the pipeline and will be out to me in the next few days.. So I am reassured by this and progress is being made towards me knowing how I stand with the second cancer.

Will let you know how I get on until then keep well.

    Hi Latchbrook & Court.

This post is in very small text but I don't know how to make it larger, will have to put my glasses on hang on.....

Right... just to let you know I have recently had an appointment my my CT Scan. I had the letter last Monday and it said my

appointment was for last Saturday...!! After phoning them the secretary said she would send me another one and apologized

saying it was possibly the mail. I received the new appointment for 15th June this morning so I feel a little relieved to think that

I am now back in the mix and will get to know how my cancer is doing.
