Good morning evryone,
My dad was diagnosed with Hepatitis B a few months ago , which turned out to be chronic . He had a fibro scan with a reading of 19 kPA which revealed cirrhosis. He had an ultrasound and an MRI which unfortunatelly showed Hepatocellular cancer.
The cancer is not in an early stage and that's why an operation is not possible. His consultant told us that he will be suggested a chemo therapy and we should wait for a call from the hospital to tell us when the treatment can start.
This was a week ago and we still do not have any news. I was wondering how long does it ussually take from the diagnose to the start of the treatment? Any particular issues that we should be aware of or things we should do while waiting for the treatment to start?
That's all from me for now. Thank you all in advance for your replies!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend and take care!
Hi Simon26 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I can't help with how long is normal for treatment for liver cancer to start after diagnosis but the current targets in England and Wales for cancer treatment is "no more than 31 days wait between the meeting at which you and your doctor agree the treatment plan and the start of treatment".
