Hi all,
I was hoping to obtain some opinions and/or experiences of others in a similar situation to myself. I'm facing a bit of a dilemma.
Since a small tumour and enlarged lymph node was found on my cirrhotic liver, it has now been established that the team of unknown primaries at my hospital have decided I have Cholangiocarcinoma. Surgery has not been offered, a combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy therapy cycles are their suggestion. I'm to understand that my cancer is not curable, only manageable. I am reluctant to embark on this treatment for a period of six months with all the known side effects, bearing in mind the best outcome could be slightly longer life.
I would like to risk surgery to remove the node (the tumour is not a particular cause for concern but the node continues to grow). When a biopsy was taken of the node, the report indicated the liver around that immediate area looked normal (not cirrhotic).
Can I request this as an option and take my chances rather than the chemo/immunotherapy? Has anyone been in a similar position? I appreciate your time and thoughts.
