Sorry not sure if I am posting right, not great with technology. I also have secondary liver cancer and have just started my 2nd time. 1st was daunting, but nurses are lovely, they will talk you through everything that happens and is going to happen. Initially thay will warm your arm up in a hot bowl of water, then put a line in. They will flush this with liquid to male sure it works fine. They will then put anti sickness through the line. This will then be followed by the chemo. None of this hurts, but can take up to 3 hours. Nurses will check on you, and speak to them if you should feel sick or want a rest at any time. After the hospital session I was sent home with 14 days of tablets to be taken twice a day with food. Sickness again can be common but you should have plenty of anti sickness medicine provided with you to take home. Eveyone is different and Dont be worried or scared if your symptons are different to other peoples as each person can react differently there is no right or wrong. Please feel free to contact me to chat, or if you have any otjer questions, I am new to this too, but will help with anything I can. X

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I’m new to this too and only just realised I had had a reply. I’ve just finished my 2nd cycle as well and was a bit worried because my hair had started thinning and I wasn’t fully prepared for it. My experiences have been just as you said and thank you fir your advice. Luckily so far, no sickness but sleeplessness has been an issue, I have take xoplicone but sparingly.
Hope you’re doing ok with your treatment. Now waiting to speak to oncologist about when a midway scan will be done. Take care and hope you’re feeling ok with your treatment. X

  • I have found that shaving my hair short has stopped it falling out. This is my second round of chemo & found that by shaving your head it stops falling out. Hope your doing ok & keep positive x

I actually had mine cut shorter last week and when I went yesterday for my third session the chemo teams reassure me that it won’t completely fall!!! MUST  keep positive!! Thank you for advice x

  • Hi I hope you are doing well with your treatment,  we have just found out my mum has secondary liver cancer and she starts on the chemo soon followed by immunotherapy , did they offer you the immunotherapy too after the chemo

Hi there, sorry for late response. I have asked about immunotherapy after my chemo cycle has ended and as yet have been given no conclusive answer. The oncologist has said I will have a ct scan first to see how they have managed to shrink the cancer and then after 3 months another ct scan will be done to see if there has been any changes. Good luck to your mum. Immunotherapy seems a great way forward.
