CT scan shows further disease

6 months ago my husbands liver was removed (as much as they could) and we were confident all cancer had been taken away.  We were told that we should have a CT scan to check on the liver after 6 months.  This scan has taken 4 weeks to be reported on and now we are told there are multiple disease and adnormalities in the liver.  I don't understand why more scans aren't done apart from the obvious, cost. Having to wait 6 months for a scan after major surgery, 4 weeks for results and then to be told over the phone is just enough to break us.  Now we have to wait for the team to meet to discuss, MRI and results.  It is just like a ticking bomb - the cancer is growing and I don't understand why no one sees the urgency in this.  Does anyone know if you can have liver resection more than once - I know if you google it you can but would be good to hear from someone with experience.  Also is there anyway to get an MRI done and seen quicker - privately?  Thank you

  • Hi

Waiting for results and then finding out what the treatment plan is always a worrying time.

I'm not a member of this group, so can't help with your question, but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be easier to spot.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could pop something about about your husband's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
