Hi all,
I had my gallbladder out on 22nd November by a general surgeon who specialises in keyhole surgery and hernias in particular. He noticed lesions on my liver so took a biopsy. I am now awaiting an MRI (27th Dec) and have been given an outpatient appt with the same surgeon on 4th Jan. My main concern (apart from the obvious, lol) is that the hepatobiliary medical secretary has said that because he is the consultant who requested the tests, he will be the one who looks at the results , rather than the hepatobiliary consultant whose care I am/was under for my gallbladder surgery referral. I'm happy to see the general surgeon first as the med sec said that is the quickest route but, if (praying here) the general surgeon says the results are all fine, what's the best way to ask for a 2nd opinion from my hepatobiliary consultant, please? Otherwise I know I will still be worried he may have missed or misinterpreted something as I know from reading up on the liver that things aren't always what they seem.
Thank you!
Hi Beachy123 and a very warm welcome to the online community which i hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I haven't had a second opinion myself but this information tells you how to go about getting one.
