Hi there this is the first time I've joined an online forum . My husband was today at his ENT appointment diagnosed with a 1A grade (i think) lesion on his right vocal cord . We were taken in a little room and given the bad news . Im on shock . He had his kidney removed in 2020 because of kidney cancer . They say its a different primary cancer , not related ..... I cant stop crying... im in shock ... im so scared .. please can anyone give me any positive outcomes to this . He is going to have another op after his biopsy a couple of weeks ago . And he needs a CT of his head and chest .. which im very worried about . He had been horse for a few weeks after what appeared to be a throat infection .. I dont understand why cancer keeps trying to kill him .... sorry im a mess . Thank you in advance everyone and sorry for the ramblings im pretty lost .. we only got married in June..
Just take a breath. This is a small cancer and it’s likely it will be easy to treat. The scans are just a precaution.
Has possible treatment been discussed?

Hi there and thank you for a reply.
I cant remember the technical term but they are going to remove more of his left vocal cord. Using a laser . But the first thing is a ct scan . Then we will know more
CT is routine. Try not to worry about it. How old is your husband by the way?

By the way. The head and neck cancer forum is much busier than this one and there are larynx cancer patients there too

He's 53 and never smoked , barely drinks and used to play field hockey for scarborough hockey club .. and yet this is the second cancer hes had .
Yes just goes to show that this disease is not always down to lifestyle. Don’t the stats tell us that 50% of us will get cancer? It’s frightening
