My partner has recently been diagnosed with cancer of the larynx. Waiting for date for surgery but we were told it will be in next 3 weeks.
Just wondered how partners have dealt with their journey, and any advice or tips you can give.
Thanks guys
Hi BYC- Iam not a carer but a Laryngectomee, I can say support and understanding is the key and expect days of being down to very down until they get used to the change, you haven't said the type of surgery so it's difficult to explain more, mine was a total Laryngectomy (removal of the voicebox) but some are parcial or just lukcy have the cancer nodes removed. They will have eating difficulties for a while that's certain, most likely they will have Speech Therapists so keep in touch with them as they will be your support network and have loads of information and help
Come back as much as you like for questions
Both of you take care and hopefully all goes well
Tony
