Hi, a close family member has been told that the cancer has grown and there are no more treatment options so it’s only a matter of time. I’m looking to speak to someone who can be open and honest about what to expect in the way of progressing symptoms and the challenges they bring. The cancer has spread from larynx to throat and the lump has grown. It would be great to speak to someone who has some experience. Thanks so much

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm really sorry to read that your family member has been told that there are no further treatment options for them and I can understand what a distressing time this must be for you.

I'm not a member of this forum, so can't help with your questions, but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

You might also want to join and post in the main head and neck cancer forum which is a 'busier' forum than this one and does cover people with cancer of the larynx.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your family member's diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
