Hi everyone I have been diagnosed with invasive squamas cell carcinoma of the larynx . I am unable to speak at all which is driving me crazy to say the least I am scheduled for surgery to remove said cancer and try to preserve the airway etc but may not be possible depending on how invasive it is . My op has been cancelled twice due to breathing issues as I have COPD and pulmonary fibrosis I am so scared for this IV had 4 surgeries last year non of which have given me any kind of voice back or removed all the cancer this time it's a different hospital and are going to do laser surgery this time . Has anyone had this done by laser I'm supposed to have tumor removal and resection . What's the recovery like is it painful will I ever speak again ? I'm really struggling at the moment I'm scared to death this time round more for my children grandchildren and partner than myself ,  I don't understand why I haven't been given a scan to check it isn't anywhere else when IV been so ill for so long . I wasn't even given any help or treatment for a year after diagnosing high grade dysplasia  three biopsies later and oh yes it actually is cancer and is quite invasive . I'm not sleeping at all I'm waking in panic I'm going to die and leave my children alone in this awful world and no one wants to listen to me IV had 9 infections in 6 month too is this normal ? Sending out healing prayers

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

It sounds like you've been through a great deal and I can understand why you're struggling at the thought of more treatment to come.

I don't have the experience you're looking for but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' your post back to the top of the discussion list.
You might also like to join the head and neck cancer forum as you should find others with laryngeal cancer there. Once you've joined you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing posts by clicking on 'reply'.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'.
