Excess mouth mucous

Has anyone else had this problem, I’ve been treated for oral thrush for some time thinking that was the problem but it transpires it was my body making excess mucous in my mouth, the exact opposite of dry mouth, it impedes my ability to swallow and is very difficult to live with. I 250 sponge mouth swabs each month to clear it out with. Neither my Speech and Language therapist or my consultant has any how to deal with it. Anyone got any ideas please.

  • Good evening, Tony, I'm sorry then I have no ideas, most of us on here suffer from lack of saliva so your saliva glands must be working too hard for some reason, sorry i cannot help out on this matter. All the best.

    Chris.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, I had dry mouth problems after radiotherapy and I have to say that was easier to live with because there was readily available solutions, anyway I’ll keep looking.

  • Hi Tony, i found that some mouthwashes help break it down so its more manageable although I expect you have tried this avenue. As you say keep looking, take care.
