Hi.
I am new here but am struggling at the moment.
I am 35 years old and in April after suffering horrendous pain down my right hand side I was told I have a "large mass" skip to June and I was told I have a 14cm Tumor that is likely cancer. I underwent a radical nephrectomy in July removing the whole right kidney and lymphnodes.
I feel like the whole thing was a whirl wind and I am only now processing it all and im finding it really hard to come to terms with.
Any words of advise would be great
Thank you
Have a read of this, and see if this helps After the treatment finishes, then what?
I've not read it for ages, but what you describe, I think is covered within.
Hi Jodie! Just to be a little encouraging I hope.. I am 75. At 73 I had my kidney out because of a large cancerous mass. 2 years on and my other kidney still functions fine and in fact has grown to compensate. No ill-effects. The scars and abdominal discomfort took quite a while to settle down. But you are young and will probably recover far faster. A friend of my son who is in her late 30s also had a kidney removed about 12 years ago and is now a very fit and well musician and yoga teacher, travelling tbe world. She is flourishing. It is a horrible shock of course.. but our kidneys are amazing. Lucky we have 2. Good luck with your revovery and the future. X
