Shall keep this as short as possible: many a time I have written long replies only to find they didn't send! I hope everyone on here are keeping positive. Personally, been doing battle with GP's surgery: if you recall, GP had Resussiate in case of cardiac arrest, yet discharge notes at hospital had DNR on it! They really are a terrible practice: but anyway - finally got through to a receptionist, who said she'd get this changed 'immediately'. I have no way of finding out until I see a GP. Not been able to see a dr since discharge in August!
I wrote what I thought was a rather funny post on here saying I'd be back, after a dreadful week, and dealing with inefficient 'receptionists'. I got phoned up by a 'secretary' to my named GP, though never seen her, asking about my blood pressure, and is it 'ok' - how am I meant to know? Worst thing is that, though nice, was actually the Surgeries 'pharmacist'!!!!! 'Don't you have a BP machine at home? she enquired. Well, no I don't. 'Well I can't authorise a home visit, by a nurse' since you don't qualify. Ok... I simply had to reply 'I didn't ask for one'. What a waste of NHS resources to send a nurse round just to take my BP!!!!!!!
Quickly went off this pharmarcist who apparently has no powers at all to get my new BP tablets renewed. 'Can't do that' she said, until we get a BP reading........ well, her increasingly patronising attitude had already got my BP risen - she proceeded to tell me in GREAT detail, how they have BP machines in alll their practices, and how 'simple' it was to use, since all linked up to records. I duly thought OK, I'll use self-service BP machine: drove to all 4 practises - 2 out of order, and the other two a queue to use it!!!
I just went to Boots in the end and got my BP done there, lovely pharmacist! Went home, and another 40 min wait on the phone for a receptionist to answer, just to relay my current BP and could I have a renewed prescription, since was running out! 111/81.
Well, someone at the surgery must have been on the ball, since prescription was renewed!! 28 days, 2 a day, so in two weeks have to go all through this again, with this dreadfully patronisng 'practise pharmacist/ secretar. Off out in a min, to buy my own BP machine. Bought one before, but it broke - trouble is using my arthiritic fingers to try to get the cuff round my arm. Now looking for a wrist BP machine - might be easier. Any ideas?
So that has been my 'come back' addition to my profile, just doing battle with bureaucracy and 'sniffy' admin at the surgery and draftng my Will.
I'll ping this off now - see if it sends!
As always, lots of hugs and love to all of you on here!
