Hi new here but after waiting 7 months to be told that a 1.9 cm lesion was found on my kidney whilst having an mri of my spine.
the radiologist had noted this but it was only when I saw the spinal surgeon that I found out.
my GP has referred me to Urology but when I hadn’t heard anything by Jan 3rd I called to find I have been discharged.
i have felt a nagging pain in my kidney before Inwas even aware of the lesion, and now have a UTI.
I have also become very constipated?
any advice on what I should do would be so appreciated
️ Thank you.
My advice would be to talk with the gp that referred you and get them to chase it up, i would imagine that as you have a very small tumour they are not treating it as urgent but it does seem like you've been waiting an awfully long time.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply!
Looking at the NHS info on Kidneys it seemed that lesions under 3 cm were not seen as cancer but apparently the lesion was first found in 2019 when I had fractured my spine and had an MRI whilst in hospital. No one told me then or in May but my spinal surgeon said it had grown since 2019 so I’m worried now. I’ve read on this forum that you have to be pro active so I intend to see my GP asap.
thank you again
It took 3 months from referral to operation but mine was 6.7cm when they found it and it had grown while i was waiting for a date for the op so i was seen as more urgent, i did ring the hospital a few times chasing it up, im sure they were sick of me, they are extremely busy so i was very glad that they saw me. they were planning on removing it on 24th of december but ended up moving the op to the 7th of jan so still recovering slowly. It might be worth asking your gp if you can get a biopsy as if it does turn out to be cancer they might get you in sooner, if its not cancer then it will be a weight of your mind and you can discuss what the next steps would be.
Good luck
