Hi everyone.
Was diagnosed with kidney cancer last year and had a radical nephrectomy plus 1 lymph node last November. Have now been offered Immunotherapy Pembro infusions every 3 weeks and I'm trying to find a Type 1 diabetic who may have been through similar. I've been Type 1 for 30 years with good control and use an insulin pump. I'm worried how the immunotherapy may affect my blood sugar levels and obviously any sickness and diarrhoea can be a problem when on insulin and having to eat regularly. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hi - I presume you've already seen this info sheet from Macmillan? https://www.macmillan.org.uk/cancer-information-and-support/treatment/coping-with-treatment/diabetes/immunotherapy
You can also use the Search facility and then filter results to this kidney group only. Results here, but I didn't see anyone who was on immunotherapy there. Pembro as adjuvant treatment post nephrectomy is quite a new thing (just approved in the last year, I believe).
