Hello everyone, my name is Miguel. I came in the UK last 2018 from Spain, our native country, with my wife, two sons, two dogs and three cats, I am 53 years old, always followed a healthy life, sports, gym, diet. I never smoked and never had any alcoholic drinks. One day last April 2022, when my family started to live less struggled as it was so hard to settle, job, cost of living, I needed to go to the emergency of the Southampton General hospital due to a massive pain in my stomach. After being triaged and moved to a ward to be better checked out in the early morning, something was wrong in my left kidney. The scan showed a mass joined to the kidney and I was bleeding internally. A surgeon was called (Sunday) to stop my bleeding as my life was at high risk. I was made an embolisation. Later on, I was appointed at the end of May for my kidney and 16cm tumor be removed. Laparoscopic at the start, then open, to properly removed them. The operation was successful. At the end of September, I was diagnosed metastasis in my right lung, so fortunately I was placed in a trial to start an immunotherapy treatment. Two weeks after starting, my right lung got almost collapsed and needed to be drain 2L of pleural effusion. This is a part of my journey, which I hope to have a happy ending. I trust 100% and am deeply grateful for the attention, caring, professionalism of every staff involved in my journey.
