My diagnosis was 15 months ago, with renal cancer which had metastasized to pelvic bone. All has been contained succesfully up til now. Recent scan has revealed 2 small spots on the liver. Given that cancer is already present elsewhere, I can only assume the worst. Has anyone also experienced a similar situation ? I am now going through all the emotions related to this; worry, anxiety, fear, prognosis? etc.
Hi Stranger and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
It's natural to worry when tests and scans reveal something new. Have you had a chat with your consultant yet about what the treatment plan is?
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

I was diagnosed in Nov 2021 with metastasis to the lungs. Advances with treatment are developing all the time and I don't believe new growth is the doom and gloom it may have been 10 years ago. Immunotherapy has been a game changer for RCC with many people living many years post diagnosis. Kidney cancer is slow growing too. I am sure your team will have a treatment plan? My lung mets have been sent packing with ipi/nivo and the tumour site now 50% smaller. A prognosis is based on averages, data and treatment from 5 years ago, and at the start (diagnosis) it won't take into account how your body will respond to treatment. The +ve of immunotherapy is that there are several types and people can try several in the search for one that works for them.
