Hi,

A kidney lesion was picked up on a Ct scan for discomfort I had been having on the right side of my abdomen under my ribs, the lesion is on the left side where I have no symptoms at all, telephone consultation then an mri last Wednesday, just got a call now from dr secretary saying there was a cancellation would I be able to have another telephone consultation on Monday, well my stomach dropped worried sick I am going to be told I have cancer? Would they know from Ct or mri scans? Any help would be appreciated

  • Hello,

ooh I think I have just sent you a message in response to the one that you sent to me. Sorry to hear how you are feeling…..re the scans they can sometimes have a good idea and if they do think it may be cancer, can suggest a biopsy or an operation, or other treatment.

You only have a day to wait now, but that can seem like a long time, so if it was me I would  try to busy myself……even if it was watching tv. The difficult thing to try to get your head around is that whatever they say, you are still exactly the same physically as before they told you and if it is cancer you will start to receive what you need. There are also many new treatments around too, so there is far more hope with cancer.

Keep your chin up and let us know how it goes xxx

  • Thankyou for the reply just going to see what he says first the worrying is taking over hopefully it’s good news if not I will just have to deal with it will keep you updated.

  • Hi there, sometimes they can tell from the CT scans.  Mine was diagnosed from it, but it had spread so I think that's an easy diagnosis to make.  You've had a chat after your CT scan so sounds like they can't tell, inconclusive, need more information etc and that could be the reason for the MRI.

I suggest you concentrate on what you know and try not to speculate, easy said than done, I know!  I wouldn't read anything into the quick turnaround with the appointment on Monday.  It's good it keeps things moving.  Uncertainty and waiting are our worst enemy.   Bear in mind the outcome of the meeting could be inconclusive and they need to give you some options to think about.    Good luck and let us know how you get on.  Oh I just realised today is Monday!

  • Wishing you all the best for today!

Let us know how it goes, we are here for each other on this forum.

    xx

  • Thank you for the reply the telephone consultation has just been cancelled so annoying the prof is in surgery going to the hospital tomorrow for a face to face now, so already I am thinking all sorts I really need to keep focused on what I know rather than overthinking everything.

  • Cancelled got a fave to face tomorrow, thankyou for the kind words and thinking of me x

  • Oh dear that's not what you needed when you were already feeling stressed x I guess though that whoever was in surgery needed the professor too, glad they are seeing you tomorrow.

It's hard to know what to say to you as we all realise how awful the waiting is. It was strange as although they confirmed mine was cancer it was a relief for me  that the uncertainty had come to an end re the diagnosis.

Everyone takes news differently........ but whatever they say to you then you will physically be the same person that you were before they told you, if that makes sense. Please don't think I am discounting your feelings as I felt worried when waiting for my call and it came 4 hours later than arranged.

Keep your chin up x and I will keep an eye on the site if you need support xx

  • Thankyou think I will be able to deal with whatever I get told it’s all the speculation at the mo, just a shock I went for tests for a completely different symptom, anyway as long as they can help me I will be fine, not sure if I will be saying that tomorrow morning though, will keep you updated one again thanks for the support x

  • Hope it went okay today xxx
