Scared
Last Saturday my world changed for ever. I had a diagnosis of a tumour on my right kidney, secondaries in both lungs and a 2.5cm blood clot in my inferior Vena Cava. I have to do injections into my tummy every day. I am waiting for someone from the hospital to contact me. A day seems like a week at the minute. The MDT meets once a week. I am 66 and a full time carer to my husband who is a cancer survivor - he has been cancer free for five years. Really really scared, I don't want to die.
I am so sorry to hear your horrendous news, my heart breaks for you both. We are all going through our own personal hell too ( hence here on this website) and can relate to how scared you feel and how your life has unexpectedly changed. I hope you get the support you need and your health improves.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I am surrounded by the love of family and friends but still feel lost and alone. Does that make any sense? I know everyone on the forum is traveling a similar road. To be honest I am totally petrified but trying to put on a brave front to minimise the hit on my friends and family.
Hello Holly
I had my kidney removed almost 4 weeks ago. I had cancer previously (unrelated) so I was in shock too. It's a feeling/emotion a lot of us have.
I was given Macmillan booklets when I attended the clinic, which were very helpful. Research/read up as much as you can.
We ARE all in the same boat here and if we can't help the nurses certainly can.
I've just finished my course of tummy injections. Not my favourite procedure, but ready to move onto the next.
I see my consultant next week for a review
Keep us updated, take it one day at a time.
I found I had kidney cancer return back last July. I lost half my right kidney 10 years ago to C, now it’s returned. Many CT scans snd blood tests followed, yet, to last week NO treatment! Last week the oncologist told me the C has stopped growing! I have a tumour ~50mm on my right kidney, a small (5-10mm) one on my left, yet the CT scans picked up it has spread into both lungs, to accompany the asbestosis they discovered in both lungs. So, the hospital tells me everything has stopped growing - I just find that difficult ho understand. Since when do tumours stop growing with NO TREATMENT? Anyone come across this before? They plan on reviews every 3 months and CT scans every 6.
