Hello, my 74 tear old mum was diagnosed with a 6cm kidney tumour and 4 brain mets mtd Feb. Steroids have made 2 of the mets disappear and reduced the size of the other 2 which were small anyway. The 2 remaining are going to be tackled with SABR radiotherapy. The consultant said once mets dealt with they will decide if kidney and tumour can be removed which would them delay start of Cabo medication. I'm a little confused as nievely perhaps thought that if primary tumour is removed and brain mets treated that this would be hopeful for the future. However the Consultant has put in a letter to GP that life expectancy us 16 to 22 months (we never asked this question). I'm confused as to how consultant came to this conclusion.....
Hi @motkkar
What is cabo medication?
It sounds to me almost as if consultant has grabbed a life expectancy out of the air.
I also assumed if primary tumour n mets, were dealt with, this would augur well for the future.
Can you speak to the cancer nurse specialist about this? Or "ask an expert" online? "(Tho allow a couple of days for them to reply)
Either way, you need to get to the bottom of the consultant's comments
Do let us know how,you get on
Sue
