I Don't Know If I Should Be Here

As the title says I don't know if I should be here. Why?  Because I don't know if I have cancer or not.

I'm 72 and male. In October 2019 my GP arranged for me to be seen by my local hospital's Urology dept because my bladder was troublesome.  The next week I had an ultrasound scan followed the next week later by a camera examination of my urethra and bladder (cystoscopy).  A few days later I was summoned for a CT scan of my kidneys. This all seemed very urgent and ominous!

A month later I saw the urinary specialist and he told me that there was a lump on one of my kidneys. I assumed tumour but the specialist said it might be or it could be a renal cell cluster - time would tell. Further CT scans in June and November 2020 and in January 2021 gave no definitive proof of what was wrong.

So now you see why I don't know if I should be here!  I'd like to lurk in here if that's agreeable so I can get some idea of what might, or might not, await me.

  • Hi Ian

I just dropped by and noticed you'd posted in both New to the Community, where you've received answers from Community Champions and also here on the Kidney Forum where it looks like you haven't.

I don't have the same type of cancer but I lurk all over the place so carry on lurking and ask questions (here on the Kidney Forum) and you should get answers and find support.

    All the best B xx

  • Ian, I am just saying Hi.   I hope your problems turn out to be benign but there is no harm ( in my opinion) in being here and having a wider view.

    Take Care.

    49 eh? Wish I was !
