Hi I'm new to this page, was wondering if anybody suffering or experiencing side effects of immunotherapy, I'm asking on behalf of my mum she was diagnosed with kidney and lung cancer she is experiencing extreme itching from treatment. Has anyone had this and have anyone found anything that helps or stops this. Mum has tried different tablets and creams from doctor but nothing stops this it's getting her down.
Hi
I'm sorry to read that your mum is experiencing extreme itching from the immunotherapy treatment that she is on. It must be very unpleasant for her.
I had a peak at your profile to see which immunotherapy drug your mum is on but you haven't completed it yet. Both and have posted on here in the past about itching while on immunotherapy. By tagging them into my reply I'm hoping that they will see this message and tell you about their experiences.
While you're waiting to see if they reply, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your mum's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
I hope your mum can find something to sooth the itching soon

Hi Nix2018
Sorry to hear about your Mum. Apologies if you have already found a solution to this problem but I thought I’d give you my ‘tips’ just in case.
My husband suffered from itchy skin while he was on immunotherapy. It built up the longer he was on the treatment; would be worse after an infusion and also, after about a year of treatment was worse after having his CT scan ( they think because of the dye).
He used Diplobase for quite a while as well as taking anti histamine pills. When the Diplobase became ineffective he used Alveno cream which has worked well. I also wash all his clothes and bed linen in non biological soap powder and he uses Sanex Dermo kids shower cream.
Antihistamine pills made him very drowsy if he was on the full dose so he tried to cut these down when possible but he always took the full dose before his scan or treatment so the antihistamine was in his system, even if the itching wasn’t as bad, and this helped.
Hope your Mum finds/ has found something that works for her soon.
