I had a partial nephrectomy a couple of weeks ago and today I've been given a follow up telephone appointment for results in a weeks time.
Before the surgery I was told there's an 80% chance it's cancer. They tried to do a biopsy a couple of months ago but had to stop as the awkward position of the tumour was making it risky.
So I was really happy that I've been given a telephone rather than in person appointment and I convinced myself this could mean my tumour was benign and no more follow up needed.
Now I'm wondering if I'm just fooling myself? I'm under the Royal Free in London. Can I read anything positive into the fact my follow up is by telephone?

I hope that you are recovering well from your surgery and not in too much discomfort.
My own cancer was different to yours but I did have results given to me via phone call a few times. For me it meant that I had my results more quickly, rather than waiting for a face to face appointment and spending the extra time worrying. I had been given a choice about this. Although my results were given by phone call, I then had follow up face to face appointments a couple of weeks later.
It sounds like they are expecting your post op results to be ready at around 4 weeks post surgery- which seems about the right time- and that they want you to have the results as soon as they can- rather than waiting. If my results had not shown a need for further treatment, I would still have had a face to face appointment later on to check I was healing ok.
