My husband is finally back to see a consultant following on from his diagnosis for stage 4 kidney cancer, metastasised to adrenal gland and lungs. and another  tumor in his bladder, he had surgery 3 weeks ago and biopsy from his lungs also taken 3 weeks ago. it will be 4 weeks when we see the consultant next week since both procedures were carried out. We are so fearful and nervous to know how far the cancer has spread. Is anyone else living with stage 4 having treatment. Will the kidney tumor shrink as we were told at diagnosis tumor is inoperable. Please can we have some positivity, i want him to live for years.

  • Hello India

I am so sorry to hear of your husband's diagnosis of stage 4 kidney cancer. I hope that he is recovering well from his surgery and also from the biopsies. It is naturally a very worrying time for you both and is always hard while waiting to discuss treatment options with the oncologist.

When your husband has his appointment with the consultant there would normally be a multi disciplinary team meeting before hand where they discuss the results from any tests and discuss treatments and the next steps. I always found this a hard time as you don't really know what is going to happen next and you have lots of questions that can't yet be answered. Once I knew what the next step was I always felt a bit more in control.

You have asked about treatments and I have found out some information and will pop a link here that may help. If you scroll down to page 42 it shows some of the treatments that you husband may be offered.

I hope that this helps a bit and gives some hope to you both.

If there is anything else we can do to support you both please do let us know.
