  • Hi I had my left kidney removed on yhe 11th April by open surgery. I have been advised to wait 4-6 weeks before driving I haven't been driving but will need to get to my follow up appointment with the doctors on the 18th May.
  • Hi Donna, I didn't have a nephrectomy but I had a C-section and was advised not to drive for 6 weeks, or only after my GP gave me the all clear.  So I went to my GP after 3-4 weeks and said I felt OK to drive,  She just asked did I feel any pain in my abdomen or restrictions in my movement which might prevent me doing an emergency stop.  As I didn't she declared me fine to drive.   It meant it was documented and there was an up-to-date second medical opinion to over ride the standard out-of-the-box advice given after the procedure.

  • I'm going to call my hospital nurse on Tuesday that will be 4 weeks post surgery and take it from yhere..Thanks for your reply Sweat smile

  • Spoke to the nurse at the hospital and as you said as long as I'm OK to do an emergency stop and not taking any strong pain killers then short journeys are ok
