Hi Donna, I didn't have a nephrectomy but I had a C-section and was advised not to drive for 6 weeks, or only after my GP gave me the all clear. So I went to my GP after 3-4 weeks and said I felt OK to drive, She just asked did I feel any pain in my abdomen or restrictions in my movement which might prevent me doing an emergency stop. As I didn't she declared me fine to drive. It meant it was documented and there was an up-to-date second medical opinion to over ride the standard out-of-the-box advice given after the procedure.
