Hello,

I was diagnosed with a left side kidney lesion measuring 1.8cm X 8mm, partly cystic and solid just last week. I have a CT scan next week but in the meantime I have thought of several symptoms I’ve been having. I’ve been having dulls pains in my head for quite some time now that Ive been attributing to grinding my teeth at night and allergies. Now that I think about it I am terrified it started as a brain tumor or has metastasized into one of those said regions. My question….can renal cancer just give you a headache without metastasizing to the brain?

  • Hi Gussy,

    • Welcome to the kidney cancer community, you are probably both shocked and terrified with your diagnosis I will say try not to think about other symptoms you may have, I know this is easier said than done, but we have all been there not sleeping worrying that it has spread, but best thing to wait until you have had your scan and spoken to your consultant to find where you at and what treatment you will have, I do think our mind plays tricks on us but your headaches are probably due to worry and stress, but once you know what is next for you, you will feel a lot better in yourself Regards Sandy

  • Kidney cancer symptoms do not include a headache.   Also the common places for kidney metastasis are lungs, bones and liver.

  • Hi Gussy can't answer re symptons but on a positive note I was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer around Oct 2020. In May 21 two small brain mets were identified but they were successfully treated with stereotactic radio surgery. My 3 monthly MRIs since have all remained clear. Its easy to say but try not to pa ic.
