Apologies if this is a daft question - but how many of you with Renal Cancer are on Haemodialysis?

  • Hello sturit 69, We don’t think that any questions are daft in this group so please do ask away Blush. I had my right kidney removed 8 weeks ago and am not  on dialysis and I haven’t heard  anyone on this group mentioning it, but have only been on a few months.

I guess the reason someone would need to have dialysis is if the remaining kidney wasn’t working adequately, or both kidneys were involved.

Hopefully someone will let you know if they are on dialysis as I am not sure that anyone is.

    Best wishes Jules

  • I'm on  HD which was why I wondered lol

  • Hi sturit69,

I have had my left kidney and spleen removed and I have cancer in my right kidney so I have half a kidney working and I am not on dialysis, I know you can have a 1/4 working and still not be on it as I have a friend who manages, is your cancer in both kidneys is that why you asked that question or have you been told you have to go on it, someone on this site may be able to answer this for you we are a very friendly and helpful group and like Jules said you can ask any questions you have you will not be judged and no question is stupid or silly we all have questions it is human nature.

  • Hi Sandra and thanks for your reply. I'm on Haemodialysis currently and just wondered whether any other members were.

  • Hi Sturit69, like Jules and Sandy, l agree, that nothing asked on this site is irrelevant, every comment, query and answer has a point. As for me l don't contribute an awful lot but just waffle on and on and..... I am sure that what the girls say is absolutely true and that you may find the answer on this site but more importantly, just pursue your own oncology team for the deffinitive response. Keep asking, keep positive (everyone says it but it does make a difference) and hope to hear from you again.

    Regards Adrian
